If you look up the definition of 'forgive' in the dictionary, you'll read something like this: The action of forgiving or being forgiven. Okay, so what does that mean, right?
Forgiveness doesn't mean you are condoning or excusing behavior of someone's wrong-doing. Forgiveness means you are releasing or letting go the part of yourself that feels angry, hurt, sad, betrayed and so on.
Do you think the person who wronged you is spending time thinking about you? Probably not.
How much time are you wasting thinking about the situation that hurt or harmed you?
Choosing not to forgive is sort of like choosing to keep moldy bread. You may not eat the mold, but slowly, the mold grows and spreads to the good part of the bread and eventually the whole loaf is moldy.
We cannot control what others do or say, but we can control how we react to it.
Forgiveness allows us to let go of the negative and to move on.
Forgiveness takes time. Sometimes it takes repeating the action of forgiveness over and over again. The effort is worth it, so don't delay!

And be kind to one another tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Let's Pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being here with me now. I feel so hurt and angry with (insert name or situation). I know that I need to forgive, but I don't know how. Please help me forgive (insert name or situation) so that I may let go of this anger and hurt inside of me. I want to be whole Lord.
Please guide me on my journey and give me the strength I need to make positive changes.
Thank you for always being by my side when I am troubled.
Amen.
