Tool #5 |
Emotional Tool-box |
Gear up for success!
I have a friend who cleans houses for a living. She shows up to the job with a plastic bucket, a mop, a broom and a plastic carrier of numerous cleaning products and sponges. It's organized and filled with the items she needs to do her job successfully.
In life, we often aren't given the tools we need to be successful. We aren't given a handy carrier with the tools and skills for our best life. We collect these tools throughout life by our experiences. Sometimes those tools just aren't enough, so this mending exercise is something you do when you're feeling good- it's a tool to help you when you're feeling bad.
This trick was shared with me years ago by a mental health professional- she told me this "Think of this as a handy carrier with the most amazing tools selected just for you." And it works! When the tool box is used it can give you the necessary means to live your best life even through the toughest emotional times.

Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.

Tool box items may include things like: reading the Bible or a book, doing a project, connecting with nature, taking a walk, listening to music, reaching out on the telephone to a friend, and of course, counting blessings. Also try doing a daily task like picking or cleaning up your surroundings- this can help keep you grounded.
It's the little things in life that weave the fabric of our lives.

Let's Pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being here with me now. There are times when the stresses of life get the best of me and I feel hopeless. Please remind me of my strength during these times and comfort me so I can be constructive with my actions and have positive thoughts.
Thank you for guiding me on my journey of making positive changes and choices.
Amen.
God knows our struggles better than we know ourselves. Give him your troubles in prayer.
Make your hope in the Lord and he will heal your pain.
Your have healing inside of you. Keep up the good work!
