It's none of your business what someone thinks of you |
Words hurt.
Why does it hurt so much when someone talks behind your back, snickers at you as you walk by or is just plain rude or disrespectful? Even more so, why do those feelings of anger, frustration and insecurity stick around in our brains? You know, that tape recording that is on repeat- playing those negative songs over and over again?
Take heart. You aren't alone. Many people (myself included) have had that ugly song playing in our minds. Social Media has changed the way our world operates with criticism and negativity through 'key-board' warriors.

Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself: for you who judge practice the same things.
Romans 2:1
Romans 2:1
But why do people do that and why does it hurt so bad?
Our culture places a lot of value on outwardly appearance and monetary wealth. When you're focusing on the 'outside' of yourself, you're probably not focusing on the 'inside'. When YOU focus on the Fruits of the Spirit* what people say or how they act toward you will not matter. Ultimately, God is your only judge and no one else, so don't spend your time worrying about what people say or think about you.
It can be difficult to ignore hurtful people, but practice makes perfect. I promise!

Let's Pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being here with me now. My heart aches when people talk bad or are rude to me. Help me to grow in the Fruits of the Spirit so I may be an example to those around me. Help me to ignore the nay-sayers and be strong and courageous. Please guide me on my journey and give me the tools I need to make positive changes.
Thank you for loving me for who I am.
Amen
Repeat this prayer as needed.
Praying for those who cause you hurt will help mend your heart.
You're becoming stronger everyday! I'm so proud of you.

*Fruits of the Spirit:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25
